Cannot receive Email

Option 1
Try sending an email to yourself. If that email arrives it means that your email service is working correctly and you may need to double check the address you have provided for people to contact you.

Option 2
Check your email settings and try again. Click on the operating system that you use, to view the instructions.

• Windows 98/Windows ME/Windows 2000
• Windows XP

Option 3
If you are using Netscape, please create a new profile. If you are using Outlook Express, please create a new email account. Click on the operating system that you use, to view the instructions.

• Netscape 7.x
• Outlook Express 6.x

- Windows 98/Windows ME/Windows 2000

  • In the Windows taskbar, click on the START button,
  • select PROGRAMS, then click on OUTLOOK EXPRESS.
  • This will open Outlook Express.
  • In the Outlook Express menu, click on TOOLS,
  • then click on ACCOUNTS
  • .This will open the Internet Accounts window.
  • In the Internet Accounts window, click on the MAIL tab .
  • In the Mail tab, click on the 05COM account (usually mail.05com.com.au).
  • Then click on the PROPERTIES button.
  • This will open the mail.05com.com.au Properties window.
  • In the Mail Account box, verify that it contains the NAME of the mail account.
  • In the Name box, verify that it contains the username provided by 05COM.
  • In the Email Address box, verify that it contains username@05com.com.au
  • Then click on the SERVERS tab.
  • In the Server tab, verify that My incoming mail server is a POP3 server.
  • Verify that the Incoming mail (POP3) box contains mail.05com.com.au
  • Verify that the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box contains mail.05com.com.au
  • Verify that the Account name box contains the username provided by 05COM
  • NOTE: If 'Remember password' has been ticked, retype the password into the password box (it will contain asterix's (*), otherwise it will be greyed out.)
  • Verify that Log on using Secure Password Authentication is UNTICKED
  • . Verify that My server requires authentication is TICKED.
  • Then click on the CONNECTION tab.
  • In the Connection tab, verify that Always connect to this account using is UNTICKED.
  • Then click on the ADVANCED tab.
  • In the Advanced tab, click on the USE DEFAULTS button.
  • NOTE: The Use Defaults button may be greyed out. If this is true, then skip to the next step.
  • In the Advanced tab, click on the OK button. This will close the window.
  • In the Internet Accounts window, click on the CLOSE button.
  • In the Outlook Express window, click on the FILE
  • , then click on EXIT.
  • This will close the window.

- Windows XP

  • In the Windows taskbar, click on the START button, select ALL PROGRAMS, then click on OUTLOOK EXPRESS. This will open Outlook Express.
    In the Outlook Express menu, click on TOOLS, then click on ACCOUNTS. This will open the Internet Accounts window.
    In the Internet Accounts window, click on the MAIL tab.
    In the Mail tab, click on the 05COM account (usually mail.05com.com.au).
    Then click on the PROPERTIES button. This will open the mail.05com.com.au Properties window.
    In the Mail Account box, verify that it contains the NAME of the mail account.
    In the Name box, verify that it contains the username provided by 05COM.

    - Netscape 7.x
  1. Open Netscape 7.x MAIL & NEWSGROUPS
  2. Click on the EDIT menu and select MAIL & NEWSGROUP ACCOUNT SETTINGS.
  3. Click the ADD ACCOUNT button.
  4. Select EMAIL ACCOUNT and click NEXT.
  5. In the YOUR NAME field, type your name.
  6. In the EMAIL ADDRESS field, type your 05COM email address.
    Click NEXT.
  7. Select POP, then type mail.05com.com.au into the INCOMING SERVER field.
    In the OUTGOING SERVER field, type mail.05com.com.au
    Click NEXT.
  8. Make sure that the USER NAME field has your user name in it and click NEXT.
  9. Make sure that the ACCOUNT NAME is set to your email address and click NEXT.
  10. Double check the summary to make sure the details are correct and click FINISH.

- Outlook Express 6.x

 

  1. In the Windows taskbar, click on the START button, select All
  2. Programs, then click on OUTLOOK / OUTLOOK EXPRESS.
  3. In the Outlook / Outlook Express menu, click on TOOLS, then click on ACCOUNTS.
  4. This will open the Internet Accounts window.
  5. In the Internet Accounts window, click on the ADD button,
  6. then click on MAIL. This will open the Internet Connection Wizard window.
  7. In the Internet Connection Wizard window, in the Display name box, type in your NAME.
  8. Then click on the NEXT button.
  9. In the Internet E-mail Address screen, in the E-mail address box, type in your EMAIL ADDRESS.
  10. Then click on the NEXT button.
  11. In the E-mail Server Names screen, in the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server box, type in mail.05com.com.au
  12. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box, type in mail.05com.com.au
    Then click on the NEXT button.
  13. In the Internet Mail Logon screen, in the Password box, type in your PASSWORD.
  14. Then click on the NEXT button.
    In the Congratulations screen, click on the FINISH button
